While the greater Jackson Hole valley area is surrounded by thermal waters, only a few are well-developed for daily use. Surrounded by beautiful mountain views and stunning natural settings, soaking in one of these hot springs near Jackson Hole is a great way to relax and still enjoy the area’s beauty.

Granite Hot Springs

Granite Hot Springs are located 10 miles south of Jackson Hole, down an 11-mile dirt trail, nestled under peaks of the Gros Ventre Mountain range and towering pine trees. Built in the 1930s, the 110-degree pool is the perfect place to relax and refresh. Aside from the main pool, you will also find undeveloped pools below the main pool along the river, which often requires wading across the waters of the Granite Creek.

The summer season usually opens in late May and ends in late October. In the spring, make sure to call ahead to confirm they are open, as late snow melt-off can delay the road opening sometimes up to two weeks. The winter season runs from early December until the beginning of April. During the winter months, the hot springs are accessible only via snowmobile, dog sled, skiing, and fat biking. There is a small fee for use of the pool. On-site facilities include a bathroom and changing room. Soak time is limited to an hour.

Astoria Hot Springs

Originally built in the 1960s, Astoria Hot Springs, located just 15 minutes south of town, was recently restored as the Astoria Park Conservancy. The new Astoria Hot Springs features five natural hot spring-fed pools filled with natural thermal waters, which are controlled at different temperatures in each pool. Situated within Astoria Park and along the banks of the scenic Snake River, Astoria Hot Springs is one of the most popular hot springs near Jackson Hole. Advanced reservations are recommended for a soaking session, and capacity is capped at 35 people per session.

Yellowstone National Park Hot Springs

Yellowstone National Park is known for its geothermal geyser and hot springs, and while a majority of them are too hot for swimming, be sure to check out the Firehole River Swimming Area.

Located near the west entrance of the Lower Geyser Basin, the Firehole River is quite popular in the summer. Enjoy the warm waters of the Firehole which feature the perfect temperature for a long soak. Plus, the river is wide enough to easily share the waters with other visitors.
