Sometimes all you need is one day! When staying in Jackson and the Huff House Inn, it’s easy to spend one day in Grand Teton National Park. With the park’s proximity to town, many travelers can easily plan a day trip during their vacation.

Catch the sunrise

If you are willing to get up early, start your one day in Grand Teton National Park with sunrise at Mormon Row and Oxbow Bend. It’s truly one of the more breathtaking sites you will see inside the park.

Snake River Overlook

For one of the most iconic views of the Tetons, head to the Snake River Overlook. Ansel Adams made this area famous from his 1942 photograph. The sweep of the Snake River below the sagebrush, contrasting with the towering mountain peaks of the Tetons, are nothing short of spectacular.

Scenic drive

Get to know the park with a scenic drive. Drive the 42-mile route along Teton Park Road, connecting the base of the Teton Range between Moose and Jackson Lake Junction. Take advantage of the several turnouts along the way where you can get out and take photographs, enjoy a picnic lunch, and take in the majestic scenery.

Jenny Lake

Along your scenic drive, visitors will pass by Jenny Lake. As one of the most scenic spots inside the park, Jenny Lake is tucked away at the base of Teton Range with surrounding mountain views. There are many popular trails that are accessed from Jenny Lake. Hike around the lake or hike to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point. These hikes are easily accessible and can be done even if you only have one day in Grand Teton National Park.

Lunch at Jackson Lake Lodge

Refuel after your hike at the Jackson Lake Lodge. The lodge is located at Jackson Lake, which is roughly 15 miles north from Jenny Lake. Here, the Jackson Lake Lodge serves up elk chili and buffalo burgers at the Pioneer Grill.

Visit Colter Bay Village

Finish your one day in Grand Teton National Park with a visit to Colter Bay Village. Visitors will find many amenities here including gift shops, marina, two restaurants, and more. Activities at Colter Bay include canoeing, kayaking, scenic lake cruises, fishing, hiking, and more.
