If it’s your first time exploring Grand Teton National Park, the vast land may be a little overwhelming when you first step foot in it. You may not be ready for more adventurous hikes, and that is completely okay! There are many easy day hikes in Grand Teton National Park that allow you to explore. Get your gear ready and prepare to explore some beautiful scenery and nature.
String Lake Loop
For beautiful panoramic lake views, String Lake Loop is a comfortable trail to hike. Portions of this trail are paved, making it easy to proceed along, and have informational signage detailing the nature of the area. As you continue through the trail, you will see breathtaking views of Mt. Moran and Jenny Lake.
Phelps Lake Overlook
The hike to Phelps Lake Overlook is an easy two-mile journey to gorgeous lake views. While it starts with a brief climb through a forested area, it provides a great opportunity to look out for local wildlife like marmots, moose, and even black bears.
Heron Pond-Swan Lake Loop
There is a fair number of wetlands in Grand Teton National Park. Hiking through the Heron Pond-Swan Lake Loop is the best way to explore the pond views of the Teton Range. This is a terrific trail for birdwatching; swans, ospreys, and herons frequent the two ponds.
Taggart Lake
Hiking to Taggart Lake is a great adventure first thing in the morning. It has a great view of the morning sun rising over Grand Teton! It’s one of the more popular hikes within the park, so taking it on early is the best way to beat the crowds.
Leigh Lake
The hiking trail to Leigh Lake is of the flatter trails and is the only way to access the lake if not traveling by boat. If you continue moving eastward down the lake, you’ll have access to the beach area, perfect for a picnic!
