Discover the perfect day trip to Yellowstone from Jackson Hole!
Preparing The Trip
Whether it’s summer or winter, you always want to dress for the weather while exploring Yellowstone National Park. Wear lightweight materials, preferably waterproof or windproof. Shoes are the most important factor, especially since you’ll be on your feet most of the day. Hiking boots or athletic shoes are preferable, and don’t forget good socks too! Pack plenty of snacks and water, you’ll be there all day and you don’t want to risk dehydration.
Getting There
When venturing there from Jackson Hole, you’ll want to hop on US-191 and follow it up north. You’ll see great sights of the Grand Tetons during the 1 hour and 15-minute drive and some spots in Grand Teton National Park. You’ll want to enter Yellowstone through the south entrance!
Yellowstone Sights
Once you’ve arrived at Yellowstone National Park, you may be wondering where to start your adventure. There are must-do sights to see within the park. The most popular landmark is, of course, Old Faithful Geyser, but there are other geysers within the park to check and the unique Morning Glory Pool. To catch the sights of wildlife, make sure to explore Lamar Valley. Bison roam the area freely, so you’ll be certain to stop and say hello to them or even elk and deer.
Activities
After a sightseeing adventure, there are more activities at your fingertips at Yellowstone National Park. There are nearly 1000 miles of trails to hike, and you have an opportunity to hike through gorgeous forests, lakesides, and valleys.
