Named by Country Living Magazine as one of the “best places to visit for Christmas,” see how Jackson Hole lights up for the holidays.
The holiday season is upon us, and what better way to celebrate than with a visit to Jackson Hole? Despite colder temperatures, the cozy town will warm your heart with its decorative town square, winter wonderland, and seasonal activities for both the family and couples to enjoy. See how you can spend the holidays in Jackson Hole with these fun activities and events.
Visit Town Square
No matter what time of year, visiting Jackson Hole’s Town Square is fun. But during the holiday season, it is extra special with the decorative elk antlers that go up at the entrance to the town square. A long-standing tradition that started many years ago, this destination best represents the holidays in Jackson Hole. Watch on November 27th (the day after Thanksgiving) as the four decorated arches of lights and elk antlers light up, along with the rest of Town Square at the annual Tree Lighting ceremony.
Missed the ceremony? Don’t worry, the Town Square will shine bright every night after dark through the remainder of the holiday season. Come bask in the holiday cheer and drop off your wish list to Santa!
Take a sleigh ride
Just like Santa, you too can take a horse-drawn sleigh ride through a scenic winter wonderland! The National Elk Refuge offers sleigh rides during the holiday season, where you will encounter an elk herd numbering in the thousands and majestic mountain scenery. This is a seasonal holiday favorite, perfect for the entire family.
Santa’s coming to town
Spend Christmas on the slopes and catch Santa coming into town on Christmas Eve at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort as he rappels out of the Aerial Tram. The event starts at 4:30 p.m. Bring the kids on Christmas day to ski with Santa on the Teewinot and Casper runs.
Ice skating Jackson Hole
One of the best ways to spend the holidays in Jackson Hole is ice skating at one of the ice rinks in town. Choose from either the ice rink in the Town Square or the Village Rink on the Commons in Teton Village. Both offer skate rentals (for a price) and are outdoor activities everyone can enjoy this winter.
Shop the holiday market
Normally an in-person event, this year’s Annual Holiday Bazaar will be held virtually. You can still buy locally handcrafted goods, artwork, photography, jewelry, ceramics, and more from all artists in the Art Association’s gallery, running November 30th – December 29th.
