While a visit to Grand Teton National Park should be a part of any Jackson Hole bucket list, Jenny Lake is a great place to start when exploring the park. As one of the most scenic spots inside the park, Jenny Lake is tucked away at the base of the Teton Range with surrounding mountain views. From hiking and biking to boating and camping there are many ways to explore the area. Here’s how you can plan your one-day itinerary for Jenny Lake in Grand Tetons.

Jenny Lake Visitor Center

Start your adventure by Jenny Lake Visitor Center. The historic center was once the Crandell Studio that was built in the 1920s and housed photographs and postcards of the Teton Range. Today the center features informational displays and introduces guests with the area’s history and geological formations, plus an art gallery that explores the building’s heritage.

Hiking

There are many popular trails that are accessed from Jenny Lake. Hike around the lake or hike to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point. These hikes are easily accessible and can be done even if you only have one day in Grand Teton National Park. String and Leigh Lake are also other popular routes for day hikers that are accessible from Jenny Lake.

Jenny Lake shuttle

A unique way to explore Jenny Lake is aboard the Jenny Lake Shuttle, a boat that acts as part scenic-tour and part water-taxi. The water taxi takes visitors from the south end of the lake to the Cascade Canyon Trailhead. It’s a great way to navigate the area and take in the sights and sounds around you.

Kayak or canoeing on the lake

The shuttle boat isn’t the only way to get out on the waters, paddlers are welcome too! Kayak and canoe rentals are available at Jenny Lake Boating, by the hour or rent for the entire day.

Biking at Jenny Lake

Ride your bike directly from town to Jenny Lake along the multi-use pathways provided. Or choose from one of the two loops within inside the park. Either way, you’ll have plenty of options to explore more of the area with your bike!

Dining at Jenny Lake

During your visit to Jenny Lake in Grand Tetons, be sure to stop for lunch at the Jenny Lake Lodge. The dining room offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Please be sure to visit their website for the latest information regarding COVID restrictions.

Take the Jenny Lake scenic drive to reach the famous Cascade Canyon Overlook. The drive follows the east shore of Jenny Lake. The loop is one-way and provides beautiful mountain views and only takes roughly 30 minutes to complete.
